Activate Stripe
Collect by card, SEPA, Apple Pay: fees, payouts, disputes.
Stripe is the most important integration for 95% of Nexte users. It turns your invoice PDFs into online payment pages where clients pay in one click, and credits your bank account directly within 7 days on average.
Why Stripe?

Stripe onboarding
- Settings → Apps → Stripe → `Activate`.
- You're redirected to the Stripe Connect Express onboarding. Verify your identity (ID + selfie, ~2 min).
- Enter your IBAN and entity details.
- Confirm tax info (tax ID, VAT, business activity).
- Automatic return to Nexte. Stripe shows `Connected` in green. Enabled immediately on new invoices.
Payouts
By default Stripe pays out collected funds every 7 days to your IBAN (rolling D+7). You can change frequency in the Stripe dashboard (daily, weekly, monthly) — daily requires 30 days of payment history.
Stripe fees in detail
- EU card (BE, DE, ES, FR, IT, NL, …): 1.4% + €0.25.
- Non-EU card (US, UK, AU, CA, …): 2.9% + €0.25.
- Amex: 2.9% regardless of country.
- SEPA Direct Debit: 0.8% capped at €5 per payment.
- Refund: initial fees aren't refunded, but processing a refund is free.
- Dispute: €15 per lost chargeback (non-refundable even if you win the dispute).
Handle refunds
From the paid invoice, click `Refund`. Full or partial. The refund is pushed to Stripe, then credited to the client's card within 5-10 business days. An automatic note is added to the timeline, and an accounting credit note is generated in Nexte.
Disputes and chargebacks
If a client disputes a payment with their bank, you receive a notification in Nexte. You have 7 days to provide evidence (invoice, email exchanges, delivery). Nexte displays a structured form to respond. Keep client emails and signed quotes — those are your best evidence.
Stripe Tax (optional)
Enable Stripe Tax in your Stripe dashboard to automatically compute US (sales tax) and EU (VAT OSS) taxes at checkout. Useful if you bill many international clients. Additional fees: 0.4% on affected payments.
