Notifications and preferences

Control what Nexte sends you, where, and when. No noise, nothing missed.

Good notification setup is the difference between a useful tool and an exhausting one. Nexte distinguishes three channels (in-app, email, mobile/desktop push) and lets you toggle each category independently. The goal: alert you only when action is required — not for every click.

Notification categories

  • Payments: invoice paid, payment failed, refund processed. Almost always useful to keep on.
  • Proposals and quotes: link opened by the client, accepted, declined, near expiry.
  • Tasks: new task assigned, due within 24h, overdue, commented.
  • Client messages: new message in the unified inbox, reply to a sent message.
  • Project events: step marked completed, file added by client, feedback request.
  • Accounting: new document to file, bank reconciliation discrepancy, upcoming tax deadline.
  • System: planned maintenance, major feature change, security alert.

Configure each channel

  1. Settings → Notifications. The table crosses categories (rows) and channels (columns: in-app, email, push).
  2. Check/uncheck each cell to your preference. Changes save instantly.
  3. For each email channel, you can also pick a frequency: instant, daily digest (9am), weekly digest (Monday 9am). The digest bundles all notifs into one email to reduce noise.
  4. Enable quiet hours (default 9pm-8am) to block push during this window. Real-time notifs accumulate and arrive on wake.
  5. On mobile, allow notifications in iOS/Android system settings (Nexte reminds you on first app launch).

Recommended setup

If you're starting and unsure, here's a config that works for 80% of users: push only for payments and client messages, instant email for accepted proposals and failed payments, daily digest for everything else, in-app enabled everywhere (you see everything when you open the app, but nothing disturbs you elsewhere).

General preferences

  • Language: French or English. Affects the interface and outbound emails to your clients (default follows app language, but overridable per client).
  • Time zone: used for all displayed dates and quiet hours. Auto-detected, manually adjustable.
  • Date format: DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, or YYYY-MM-DD.
  • Default currency: EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CAD. Adjustable per client/project.
  • Theme: light, dark, or auto (follows system). Dark reduces eye fatigue in the evening.
  • Density: compact (more info per screen) or comfortable (more spacious). Personal choice.
All preferences sync across your devices in real time. Change the theme on mobile, your desktop follows within a second.

Full disable

If you want to silence everything temporarily (vacation, weekend off), enable Pause mode from the avatar → Pause notifications. Pick the duration (4h, 24h, this weekend, until Monday). A banner stays visible to remind you you're in pause mode, and pause auto-disables at the end.
